Options for Exit Devices

A wide range of options from matching end caps that provide an aesthetic upgrade to motorized latch retraction that provides quieter operation to unlatch an exit device.

Motorized & Electric Latch Retraction

  • Enables remote lock/unlock of a door with an exit device
  • Make it easy for people to move quickly and hands-free through virtually any door with the simple addition of Electric Latch Retraction.
  • Solenoid Electric Latch Retraction and Motorized Latch Retraction available for all 8000/3000 Adams Rite Exit Devices

Motorized Latch Retraction

The Motorized Latch Retraction (MLR) option incorporates a powerful and efficient motor to unlatch the exit device. Motor-powered latch retraction provides a quieter operation than solenoid options. Adams Rite recommends that for optimal performance all exit devices with MLR option be paired with PS-EXIT Power Supplies.

  • Available on all 8000 | 3000 Series
  • Factory calibrated with optional field calibration
  • Audible chirps for calibration confirmation and bar binding
  • Robust linkage mechanism for extended operation
  • Motor-driven latch and bar retraction
  • Available for 30" - 48" doors
  • 850 mA during retraction and 370 mA maintained in dogged hold position at 24VDC
  • MLR option available only in standard 24VDC; Requires 2 A at 24VDC regulated/filtered power supply
  • Continuous or intermittent use
  • Configured for fail-secure. In the event of a power failure, the exit device defaults to latched condition
  • Available for panic and fire exit hardware
  • Compatible with REX monitoring
  • Specify MLR when ordering
  • Adams Rite recommends that for optimal performance all exit devices with MLR option be paired with PS-EXIT** Power Supplies.

** PS-EXIT replaces PS-SE and PS-LR models.

Electric Latch Retraction

The EL option for rim exit devices and LR option for all other exit devices (non-rim exit devices) use a solenoid mounted under the pushbar for instantaneous unlocking and locking of the exit device from a remote location or access control device. Because electrical operation of device is fail-secure, this option can be used on fire-rated as well as life-safety applications. In the event of a power failure, device automatically relocks.

  • Available on all 8000 | 3000 Series
  • Solenoid driven latch retraction
  • Available for 30" - 48" doors
  • LR 16 A inrush during retraction and 500 mA in dogged hold position
  • EL requires 1.5A at 12 VDC and 600 mA at 24 VDC
  • Continuous or intermittent use
  • Configured for fail-secure. In the event of a power failure, the exit device defaults to latched condition
  • Available for panic and fire exit hardware
  • Compatible with REX monitoring
  • Specify EL or LR when ordering

Electrified Options

Alarm:

This battery-operated alarm option emits a loud 95 decibel alarm to notify management of unauthorized exit.

  • Available on all 8000 | 3000 Series, 36" wide or greater
  • Alarm is controlled by a key in standard 1" [25.4 mm] length, 1-5/32" [29.4 mm] diameter mortise cylinder with MS® cam such as the 4036 Mortise Cylinder
  • Cylinder is used to arm, disarm, delay, or reset the alarm
  • Will not alter the life-safety characteristics of the exit device in any way
  • Red letters printed on the bar give a “hands off” warning to deter accidental activation
  • Four AA alkaline batteries power twin horns for two minutes (or until disarmed) when pushbar is depressed. Beeps to signal need for new batteries.

Monitoring:

Mounted under the exit device pushbar on the hinge end, switches may be used to activate signal light, horn, monitor, or other devices.

  • Available on all 8000 | 3000 Series
  • Switches can be wired for normally open or normally closed
  • Can be retrofit in field to existing exit devices
  • Dual switch version offers redundancy as required by some building codes or it can operate a second signaling device
  • Order Monitor/Signal Kits for upgrading any 3000 or 8000 Series device: 91-0897-01 for Single Monitoring Switch Kit or 91-0897-02 for Dual Monitoring Switch Kit.
  • M1: Single monitoring switch; M2: Dual monitoring switches

Mechanical Options

Cylinder Dogging:

Suitable for all non-fire rated Adams Rite exit devices that require management control of exit device dogging.

  • Available for 8000 Series life-safety devices (non-fire rated) only
  • Any standard 15/16” [23.8 mm] to 1-1/8” [28.6 mm] length,1-5/32" [29.4 mm] diameter mortise cylinder with MS® cam such as the 4036 Mortise Cylinder can be used in a pushbar prepared at factory with Cylinder Dogging kit
  • Cannot be ordered with any other exit device options.
  • NOTE: Hex key dogging comes standard with every exit device

Matching End Caps:

Standard Adams Rite exit devices come with black metal end caps. Matching endcaps are available for applications where it is preferable that the end caps match the finish of the exit device.

  • Available for all 8000 | 3000 Series Exit Devices
  • Available for US finishes only
  • Specify by adding“MEC” after the regular ordering matrix
